A Soy Protein-Based Film Based on Chemical Treatment and Microcrystalline Cellulose Reinforcement Obtained from Corn Husk Byproducts.

Developing an environmentally friendly soy protein-based film that offers excellent performance has garnered considerable interest while also posing a significant challenge. Herein, we propose the strategy of covalent and noncovalent cross-linking to improve the mechanical properties of the films. First, chemical denaturation was carried out under the combined action of sodium sulfite, sodium dodecyl sulfate, sodium hydroxide, and urea to reshape the structure of the protein to improve the solubility of protein and release active groups. Then, microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) derived from low-cost agro-industrial byproducts (corn husk) was employed to balance the covalent cross-linking reaction between proteins and the noncovalent reaction between MCC and protein. The results indicate that the structure and properties of the soy protein-based films were modified and improved through chemical treatment in conjunction with biomass enhancement. It is concluded that the addition of 1% MCC improves the tensile strength, elastic modulus, water solubility, and water vapor permeability of "MCC-1%" by 64.7, 75.9, 22.7, and 12.9%, respectively. Additionally, the resulting film of "MCC-1%" exhibits better resistance to thermal degradation and improved thermo-stability. However, the elongation at break decreased by increasing the addition of MCC. Thus, this work may provide a simple and affordable approach to preparing a high-performing soy protein-based film.

The Effects of Microcrystalline Cellulose Addition on the Properties of Wood-PLA Filaments for 3D Printing.

This paper describes the use of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) as an additive in wood-polylactic acid (PLA) filaments suitable for 3D printing. Filaments prepared with PLA, thermally modified (TM) wood, and three different MCC loadings (1, 3, and 5 wt%) by two-step melt blending in the extruder were characterized with respect to their rheological, thermal, and mechanical response. The analyses demonstrate that a low MCC content (1%) improves the mobility of the polymer chains and contributes to a higher elasticity of the matrix chain, a higher crystallinity, a lower glass transition temperature (by 1.66 °C), and a lower melting temperature (by 1.31 °C) and leads to a higher tensile strength (1.2%) and a higher modulus of elasticity (12.1%). Higher MCC loading hinders the mobility of the polymer matrix and leads to a rearrangement of the crystal lattice structure, resulting in a decrease in crystallinity. Scanning electron micrographs show that the cellulose is well distributed and dispersed in the PLA matrix, with some agglomeration occurring at higher MCC levels. The main objective of this study was to develop and evaluate a filament containing an optimal amount of MCC to improve compatibility between wood and PLA, optimize melt processability, and improve mechanical properties. It can be concluded that a 1% addition of MCC favorably changes the properties of the wood-PLA filaments, while a higher MCC content does not have this effect.

Study on improving the toughness of rapidly curing epoxy resin composite materials with a biobased microcrystalline cellulose

AbstractRapid solidification molding is one of the main low‐cost forming methods for composite materials, and the reasonable selection of the solidification molding process is the key to achieving material performance. The curing system used in this paper is the widely used, inexpensive, and readily available epoxy resin (WSR618) and the transparent, colorless, and less toxic 593 curing agent, which cures at room temperature. Through the study of various temperature formulations, a rapid curing system was determined that has a 10‐min cure at 80°C. The results showed that when the mass ratio of epoxy (EP) resin to curing agent was 5:1, the curing system was selected at 80°C for 10 min, and the bending strength could reach 100.19 MPa, and the impact strength could reach 12.82 kJ/m2. However, the difficulty caused by quick solidification was a reduction in mechanical characteristics, which required modification. Microcrystalline cellulose is cheap and readily available and widely available, so microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) was chosen for modification in this study. The experimental results showed that the addition of MCC reduced the fracture brittleness of EP composite materials. When 0.75% MCC was added, the bending and tensile strengths reached 116.88 and 52.53 MPa, respectively, which were 16.66% and 18.74% higher than unmodified EP. The elongation at break reached 11.57%, which is 14.13% higher than unmodified.

Impact of water absorption on the creep performance of epoxy/microcrystalline cellulose composites

AbstractRecently, considerable effort has been made to study cellulose/epoxy composites. However, there is a gap when it comes to understanding the post‐conditioning anomalous effect of moisture uptake on their mechanical and dynamic‐mechanical properties, and on their creep behavior. In this work, up to 10.0 wt% microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) was incorporated into epoxy resin by simple mixing and sonication. Epoxy/MCC composites were fabricated by casting in rubber silicone molds, and rectangular and dog‐bone test specimens were produced. The moisture uptake, dynamic mechanical, chemical, tensile, and creep behavior were evaluated. The incorporation of MCC increased the water diffusion coefficient. The changes in storage modulus and glass transition temperature, combined with Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy analysis, evidenced that water sorption in epoxies causes both plasticization and additional resin crosslinking, although the latter is prevented by the addition of MCC. The creep strain of the composites increased by 60% after conditioning, indicating that plasticization induced by water sorption plays an important role in the long‐term properties of the composites.

Effect of microcrystalline cellulose on the mechanical properties of flax reinforced methylmethacrylate and urethane acrylate composites

Many structural applications are attracted to natural fibre-reinforced polymeric composites due to their eco-friendliness, recyclability, and cost-effectiveness. While significant progress has been made, their interface compatibility with the polymeric matrix is still challenging. Therefore, the present study proposed a method for improving the mechanical and dynamic mechanical performance of flax-reinforced novel methylmethacrylate (Elium®) and urethane acrylate (Crestapol®) composites. The technique involved the dispersion of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) in the matrix at different weight percentages (0.5–0.75%) to improve the fibre/matrix interface. Flax/Elium® (FE) and flax/Crestapol® (FC) composites with varying weight percentages of MCC were manufactured using the vacuum infusion method. The resulting improvements in mechanical and dynamic properties were evaluated through in-plane shear (± 45° tensile), flexural, short beam shear, and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). The effects of MCC on these properties of flax/Elium® were compared to those of flax/Crestapol® composites. The addition of MCC improved the in-plane shear strength (FE: 13–20%, FC: 10–17%), flexural strength (FE: 6–13%, FC: 13%) and interlaminar shear strength (FE: 9–17%, FC: 10–20%). Also, FE composite showed 7–11%, 10–14% and 10–17% higher in-plane shear, flexural and interlaminar shear strengths, respectively, compared to FC composites. The DMA results confirmed the positive effect of Elium® resin and MCC on the dynamic storage and loss modulus.

Development and Properties Improvement of Tea Dregs-Based Biodegradable Packaging Formulated with Starch and Poly(Lactic Acid)

Tea dregs are usually discarded and increase the landfill problem, even though it still contains some fibers that might be used as an alternative fiber source for biodegradable packaging bowl (BPB) production. A novel BPB from tea dregs reinforced with starch and poly (lactic acid) (PLA) was produced in this study by subjecting the mixture to a compression molding with a bowl shape. Tea dregs, starch, and PLA in the ratio of 50:30:20 resulted in the best appearance and highest value of the mechanical properties. Properties improvements with plasticizers, microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), and PLA coating were performed sequentially in the best product ratio, significantly affecting appearance, mechanical, and water absorption properties. Adding sorbitol 5pph, MCC 3pph, and coating with 6% PLA solution improved the product's properties most effectively. These improvements resulted in the best appearance, higher compressive strength, higher hardness value, and lower water absorption. This study concluded that tea dregs could be used as an alternative fiber source in the production of BPB. The addition of plasticizer, MCC, and PLA coating at the optimum concentration can be conducted for the properties improvement of BPB.

Fabrication of composite membrane with microcrystalline cellulose from lignocellulosic biomass as filler on cellulose acetate based membrane for water containing methylene blue treatment

A composite membrane based on cellulose acetate polymer with microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) based filler from lignocellulosic biomass is one of the right solutions to reduce methylene blue (MB) levels in water. MCC has been successfully isolated from water hyacinth, sengon wood, and kapok fiber with an alkalization method. The three MCCs have shown X-ray and FTIR diffraction patterns with characteristic peaks from cellulose and are stable up to 317 °C. Cellulose acetate (CA)/MCC membranes have been prepared using the phase inversion method and characterized by FTIR, tensile strength, contact angle, SEM, and porosity. The characterization results show that the addition of MCC can increase the tensile strength (3.05 N·mm-2), hydrophilicity (52°), and porosity (88 %). The CA/MCC membrane performed better than the neat membrane in separating MB. The composite membrane with MCC from kapok fiber showed optimum performance with increased flux and MB rejection up to 84 L·m−2·h−1 and 99 %, respectively.

Optimizing porosity of the catalyst for hydrogen peroxide based thrusters

The texture of the catalyst support is a crucial factor for H2O2 decomposition due to the expansion of H2O2 in monopropellant thrusters, which can lead to overpressure and catalyst breakage. Therefore, alumina supports with 5 wt%, 10 wt%, and 15 wt% microcrystalline cellulose templates were studied to create macropores. MIP and SEM analysis showed that microcrystalline cellulose template increases the macropore fraction. Low-concentration H2O2 decomposition experiments revealed that over 10 wt% microcrystalline cellulose prevented catalyst breakage. Additionally, the thermal durability of the catalyst was studied at different calcination temperatures. Alumina with 15 wt% microcrystalline cellulose and a 900 °C calcination temperature exhibited the highest fracture strength and suitable reaction kinetics. The catalysts were tested in high-concentration H2O2 monopropellant thruster. The results demonstrated enhancement in catalyst size retention, pressure stability, and pressure drop. Introducing macropores through microcrystalline cellulose addition overcomes unstable thruster performance and it extends catalyst lifespan in H2O2 monopropellant thrusters’ applications.

Effect of microcrystalline and nano-fibrillated cellulose on the mechanical behavior and microstructure of cement pastes

When nanomaterials are added to cementitious materials, their microstructure and mechanical properties are affected. The most targeted effect of their use is the improvement of the composites’ mechanical performance. The present investigation brings the characterization of a cement paste reinforced with two different cellulosic inclusions: microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) and nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC), added in the contents of 0.050%, 0.075%, and 0.100%, in relation to cement weight. First, the morphology, crystallinity, surface area, and thermal decomposition of MCC and NFC were analyzed. Then, the composites’ microstructure was characterized by thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, and porosity measurements. This analysis was made considering the development of hydration between 3 and 28 days. Furthermore, their mechanical performance was investigated by compressive, flexural, and direct tensile tests at 28 days of hydration. Despite the differences regarding the morphologies and physical aspects between MCC and NFC, their inclusions resulted in positive effects on the flexural and tensile strengths. The cement pastes reinforced with 0.075% of MCC and NFC had their tensile strength enhanced by over 70% compared to the reference. Nevertheless, TGA and XRD analyses showed that the addition of MCC and NFC decreased the formation of all hydration products, except the calcium carbonate. Therefore, the combination of mechanical and microstructure analyses indicates that the tensile strength improvement obtained with the MCC and NFC addition was most likely due to their reinforcing capability.

Application of Pickering emulsion with microcrystalline cellulose in vitamin C double emulsion process with spray drying technology

ABSTRACT This research studies the impacts of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) concentrations on the physicochemical properties of spray-dried water-in-oil-in-water (W/O/W) vitamin C double emulsion powder Four MCC concentration (1%, 1.5%, 2%, and 2.5%) were used to produce the vitamin C double emulsion powder. The results of the emulsion’s creaming index, flow behaviour index, zeta value, and particle size indicated that these parameters decreased when the MCC concentration increased. Scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) analysis showed that the higher MCC concentration resulted in a smoother surface In general, the MCC concentration increased, the particle size, hygroscopicity, solubility, water content, and water activity of the double emulsion powder decreased. Double emulsion powder containing 2% MCC presented the highest level of antioxidant activity and was mostly stable after storage for 56 days. Before and after drying, transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis of the morphological characteristics of the liquid emulsion showed that the concentration of 2% MCC in the emulsion could form a W/O/W double emulsion structure. In conclusion, the addition of MCC significantly affect the properties of vitamin C double emulsion.

Effect of alkaline treatment time of fibers and microcrystalline cellulose addition on mechanical properties of unsaturated polyester composites reinforced by cantala fibers

Abstract The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of alkaline treatment and addition of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) on the density, tensile strength, elastic modulus, impact strength, and Poisson’s ratio of unsaturated polyester resin composites reinforced by cantala fibers (UPR-CFs). The fibers were immersed in alkaline solution of 6% NaOH for 0, 3, 6, 9, and 12 h. The composite had cantala fibers (CFs) and MCC volume fraction (v f) of 30 and 5%, respectively. The results showed that the alkaline treatment for 6 h resulted in the highest density, tensile strength, and elastic modulus of the composites, while the highest Poisson’s ratio was achieved in UPR-untreated CF composites. The addition of MCC filler also increased the density, tensile strength, and elastic modulus of the composite significantly. Both alkaline treatment and MCC addition did not significantly affect the impact strength. With the increase in the strength and modulus of elasticity, composites can be applied more widely to structures that bear higher loads.

Effect of microcrystalline cellulose on rheology, hydration kinetics and early-age properties of Portland cement-based and alkali-activated slag-fly ash blend

The research examines the influence of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) on the evolution of rheological behaviour, micro-structural build-up, hydration kinetics and early-age strength (up to seven days) of OPC and AAM matrices subject to dry and sealed curing. Rheological measurements show that the addition of MCC improves recoverability of viscosity and thixotropy of OPC-based matrices. While viscosities of MCC-OPC matrices increase with relatively low change in yield stress, MCC- AAM shows drastic increase in yield stress, up to 2.2 folds within 15 min, due to an increase in MCC content from 0.25% to 1%. This is attributed to gelation and swelling of MCC in NaOH. Hydration kinetics of MCC-OPC in the first 24 h is severely retarded with increase in MCC dosage (about 5.3 h for 1% MCC), while that of AAM is less sensitive to MCC dosage, attributed to rupture of hydrogen bonds in MCC after exposure to NaOH. The findings also show that addition of MCC reduces the heat evolution of AAM after seven days of hydration, due to its suppressing effect on fly ash dissolution. Early-age compressive strength of MCC-OPC reduces with increase in MCC content, registering a maximum reduction of 21% at 1% MCC dosage. Compressive strength of MCC-based AAM is less sensitive to curing conditions and the dosage of MCC than OPC-based matrices. The findings suggest that MCC can be a potential admixture for modifying rheology and hardening of OPC and AAM matrices, while providing an avenue for upcycling cotton textile and biomass wastes.

Study of Unsaturated Polyester Primer Reinforced by Microcrystalline Cellulose on Mechanical, Adhesion and Corrosion Properties

Addition of Microcrystalline Cellulose (MCC) as filler in to Unsaturated Polyester (UPR) polymer can enhanced the properties of the composite. UPR and MCC was prepared using sonication mixing technique at various loading of (2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 wt %) of MCC at a constant of 60 minutes of sonication. UPR and MCC was mixed in a vial bottle and then immersed in sonication bath for the sonication process. Once the sonication completed, the mixture was added with Methyl Ethylene Ketone Peroxide (MEKP) as curing agent, coated on steel plate and was left for curing process of 7 days. The coating was studied for adhesion, mechanical and corrosive properties using pencil hardness, adhesion tape and immersion tests. 4 wt% of loading showed improvement in mechanical properties where form H grade to 4H grade. It is also recorded there are improvement of adhesion test from 1B grade 35-65% pulled out to 4B grade which is less than 5 % pulled. From the immersion test, it shown that 4 wt % of loading has a good corrosion resistant as compared to the control sample. Thus, it was concluded that 4 wt % of loading filler is suitable to be used because it promotes a better mechanical and adhesion properties and also good corrosion resistant compared to other loading percentage.

Application of micro-crystalline cellulose as additive in Portland cement-based and alkali activated slag-fly ash mortar: Comparison of compressive strength, hydration and shrinkage

The research aims to examine the effects of micro-crystalline cellulose (MCC) as additive in Portland cement-based (OPC) and sodium hydroxide slag-fly ash blend (AAM) with the objective of mitigating shrinkage and improve mechanical and durability properties of constructions. MCC was dispersed using ultrasonication and added at dosages of 0.25%, 0.50% and 1% by weight of binder. The mentioned engineering properties of OPC-mortar and AAM-mortars were examined under three exposure conditions – sealed curing (SC), dry curing (DC, 30◦C/65% RH) and steam curing (STC, only for AAM). The experimental outcome suggests that addition of 1% MCC mitigates loss in strength and hydration of OPC-mortar when curing condition is changed from SC to DC, and offers similar strength as control at 28-day age. In comparison, 0.25% MCC dosage is found to be optimal for AAM, offering lower porosity and slight improvement (7 – 10%) in compressive strength at 28-day mark. Increase in MCC dosage to 1% drastically reduces compressive strength, which is attributed to noticeable retardation in fly ash dissolution in the presence of MCC and alkaline environment based on isothermal calorimetry. Addition of MCC has a substantial effect on shrinkage of OPC-mortar, evident from reduction in 7-day sealed shrinkage by 67%, 31% and 66% than control due to addition of 0.25%, 0.50% and 1% MCC respectively. In comparison, MCC eliminates shrinkage of AAM under sealed condition until 3-day and reduces total shrinkage by 8 – 36% at 7-day and 50-day age. Combination of STC and 1% MCC dosage is found to offer a substantial reduction in total shrinkage by 68% at 7-day and 23% at 50-day mark compared to control. The findings from the study suggest a promising potential of using MCC, which can be extracted from locally generated biomass wastes and textile wastes, as curing additive for OPC and alkali-activated based construction materials.

Highly efficient ultrafiltration membrane performance of PES@microcrystalline cellulose extracted from waste fruits for the removal of BrO3− from drinking water samples

New mixed-matrix ultrafiltration membranes (MMMs) made of polyethersulfone (PES) and microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) were created utilizing a nonsolvent induced phase separation (NIPS) approach for the remediation of bromate (BrO3−) from aqueous medium. The influence of MCC integrated on the contact angle, porosity, water flux, and BrO3− adsorption performance was also examined. The addition of MCC, up to 5 wt%, resulted in a significant decline in the contact angle from 60.1° of neat PES to 43.1°, indicating an increase in membrane hydrophilicity. Moreover, MCC incorporation at 1, 3, and 5 wt% concentrations led to an enhancement in the water flux to 169, 178, and 180 L m−2 h−1, respectively, indicating the improved membrane permeability. MCC-integrated PES membranes exhibited enhanced antifouling properties, as demonstrated by the achieved high flux recovery ratio (99%) of the 5% MCC-containing membrane. Furthermore, all MCC-integrated PES membranes exhibited superior performance in the removal of bromate ions (BrO3−), with rejection rates of 60.8%, 80.2%, and 92% for 1%, 3%, and 5% MCC, respectively, which was much greater than that of the virgin PES membrane.

Synthesis and characterisation of microcrystalline cellulose-g-poly(Acrylamide) superporous absorbent composite using graft polymerisation methods

Superabsorbent polymer was synthesised by using graft polymerisation method incorporated with micro crystalline cellulose (MCC) as a filler and sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) as the foaming agent. The addition of organic filler and porosity generator produced a highly porous biodegradable superabsorbent polymer composite (HP-PAM-g-MCC), which improved the characteristics of the acquired products, in comparison with the conventional SAP. Determination of water absorbency was tested by using the tea bag method after immersing in distilled water. The effects on amount of MCC and sodium bicarbonate addition towards water absorbency were studied to determine the optimum condition of PAM-g-MCC SAPs composite. The maximum water absorbency of PAM-g-MCC composite was achieved at 1.0 wt% of MCC and 1 wt% NaHCO3, resulting in 74.01 g/g and 93.96 g/g of water absorbency, respectively. The Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) analyses data revealed the presence of chemical bonding and morphological characteristics corresponding to the water absorption capacity of HP-PAM-g-MCC.

Microwave radiation-assisted synthesis of levulinic acid from microcrystalline cellulose: Application to a melon rind residue

The circular economy considers waste to be a new raw material for the development of value-added products. In this context, agroindustrial lignocellulosic waste represents an outstanding source of new materials and platform chemicals, such as levulinic acid (LA). Herein we study the microwave (MW)-assisted acidic conversion of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) into LA. The influence of acidic catalysts, inorganic salt addition and ball-milling pre-treatment of MCC on LA yield was assessed. Depolymerization and disruption of cellulose was monitored by FTIR, TGA and SEM, whereas the products formed were analyzed by HPLC and NMR spectroscopy. The parameters that afforded the highest LA yield (48 %, 100 % selectivity) were: ball-milling pre-treatment of MCC for 16 min at 600 rpm, followed by MW-assisted thermochemical treatment for 20 min at 190 °C, aqueous p-toluenesulfonic acid (p-TSA) 0.25 M as catalyst and saturation with KBr. These optimal conditions were further applied to a lignocellulosic feedstock, namely melon rind, to afford a 51 % yield of LA. These results corroborate the suitability of this method to obtain LA from agroindustrial wastes, in line with a circular economy-based approach.

Epoxy Primer Coating Filled Microcrystalline Cellulose Treated with Silane Coupling Agent on Metal Substrate

Epoxy resin was incorporated with microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) for the production of the primer coating. Various sonication times were applied for the purpose of determining the ideal sonication period that provides the best barrier performance. The coatings were also added with various 3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) loadings in order to improve the mechanical and corrosion resistance properties. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy analysis was carried out to examine the chemical interactions and diffusion between MCC, APTES, and epoxy resin. After nine days of immersion in a 5% sodium chloride (NaCl) solution, the ideal sonication period was found to be 30 minutes, with no corrosion occurring aggressively and no flaking or blistering appears on the coating. The anti-corrosive qualities of the primer coating were eventually enhanced by the addition of MCC modified with APTES. The addition of APTES had improved the interaction between MCC and epoxy, hence achieving better compatibility and promoting a uniformly dispersed MCC throughout the epoxy resin matrix. The Tafel polarization results found that the addition of APTES up to 9% gave the lowest corrosion rate at 0.004 mm/year and the highest polarization resistances at 198.69 kꭥ. This is explained by the fact that enough MCC-APTES can serve as a physical barrier and obstruct the paths used by corrosive agent to diffuse. Therefore, the MCC-Epoxy treated APTES coupling agent for metal corrosion protection has thus been successfully created.

Highly Permeable Bucky Paper for the Gas Diffusion Layer of Fuel Cell Prepared by a Whole‐Process Solid Template Method

Due to the control of porosity and pore size on mass transfer, the structure of the gas diffusion layer (GDL) has a critical impact on the performance of fuel cells. The bucky paper has high conductivity and abundant pores, which has potential to be used as GDL in fuel cells. Herein, a whole‐process solid template method is used to prepare the bucky paper with microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), whose porosity and pore size can be regulated quantitatively. The bucky paper with MCC as a pore‐forming agent has more larger pores, and these pores are mostly connected, which meet the needs of fuel cell application. The result of gas flux shows that the permeability of the bucky paper increases from the initial 12 to 240 mL min−1 kPa−1 cm−2 with MCC. The pore structure of bucky paper are significantly improved, so that the bucky paper with MCC leads to a higher fuel cell power density. Furthermore, the impedance result presents that with the addition of MCC, the mass transfer resistance of the fuel cells decreases significantly. It is fully supported in these results that MCC can modify the pores of the bucky paper and applied in proton exchange membrane fuel cells well.

Properties of potassium dihydrogen phosphate and its effects on plants and soil

Abstract One of the challenges of the modern world is to improve human nutrition and to safely increase the yield of agricultural production using existing agricultural land. It is clear that sufficient agricultural efficiency cannot be achieved without fertilizers, but fertilizers must cause minimal damage to the soil. Microorganisms, such as spore-forming bacteria, actinomycetes, fungi, algae, and protozoa play an important role in the soil and keep soil healthy. One of the soil substances involved in reactions that take place in plants is cellulose. This study investigated the effect of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (PDP), synthesized (via conversion between potassium chloride and ammonium dihydrophosphate) and granulated with the addition of microcrystalline cellulose (MC), on plants (winter wheat Toras, Lithuania) and soil microorganisms. The data of plants fertilized with pure KH2PO4, ones fertilized with PDP granulated with MC, and grown without fertilizers were compared in this study. Scanning electron microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry analysis were used to characterize the obtained product. One-way analysis of variance was used to evaluate the differences of the mean values between groups. In all cases, the significance level was p ≤ 0.05. The effect of pure KH2PO4 on plant indicators was found to be lower than that of granular PDP with MC. The length of the leaves was 29.63 and 31.20 cm, green mass was 0.471 and 0.763 g, ash mass was 0.015 and 0.019 g, respectively. In addition, granular PDP with MC did not adversely affect the soil microorganisms because the number of any species of bacteria (Spore b., mineral nitrogen assimilating bacteria, cellulose degrading bacteria) did not decrease and a slight increase in the number of Actinomycetes (from 8.5 × 105 to 2.9 × 106 KSV/g) and molds (from 3.0 × 104 to 1.4 × 105 KSV/g) was observed. The granular PDP with MC that we developed and used have better physical properties, higher agrochemical efficiency and cause less harm to soil microorganisms compared to pure PDP.
